The day started with some setbacks, with players pulling out and moving up to the 2nd team. Once again the Village boys dominated the opening minutes of the game putting the home side under pressure. There were a couple of good breaks but the final pass did not go to hand. With a new look forward pack Villages dominated the scrums. It was good to see Keagan Ackerman moving from lock back to prop, he dominated his opposite number. It was the home side to score first with an unconverted try and penalty 08-0. Villages had the final say of the half with forwards carrying the ball up in the middle of the field and Dillan breaking to the left and a pop past to the right wing running off his lefts shoulder to score an easy try. The half time score 08-05 to St Georges.
At the break there where some stern words from the coaching team informing the backline that they are too flat and should line up closer and deeper.
The second half started with the same intensity but Village could not turn the pressure into points because of handling error’s and incorrect decision making. It was St Georges to score first from a Village handling error in their own 22. Score 13-05. Once again it was Village to score the last points of the game. Replacement prop Bret carried the ball over the advancing line. Quick recycling ball was sent out to the backline. Toeghied which moved from wing to center took the half gab and was held up, the right wing came around and ran a great line to receive a inside pass and the gab opened and ran 15 meters without been touched to score under the poles. The try was unconverted 13-10 to St Georges.
In the closing minutes Village through everything they had at St Georges but the final past did not go to hand and St Georges could clear their line.
This would be Bret Sandman last game for Villager before going to Israel.
