The win against Australia might not have been pretty, but any win against international opponents is important and there will now be a degree of confidence as the Boks take on the mighty All Blacks in Durban on Saturday. The All Blacks motivation will be huge as they are now within touching distance of the most test match wins in the history of rugby union. Please note that the clubhouse will again be open on Saturday (8 October) to view the test match (kickoff 17:00) with a Happy Hour (beer and wine) from 16:00 to 17:00.
The 2016 Players’ Dinner was held in the clubhouse this past Friday. The event was well attended and the players, proudly wearing their Villager ties, demonstrated true Villager spirit with much fun, laughter and banter into the early hours of Saturday morning. A highlight of the evening was the blazer presentation to Martin, a true legend of the Villager FC. Martin has experienced so much in his 32 years at the club and is an example to all on the values of loyalty, commitment and responsibility. From all of us – thank you Martin!!!!
Club 100 continues to grow and we now have 51 members. A big thank you to all who have commited to the club which is going to be an important cornerstone in 2017. To those who have not yet signed up, please be a part of Villagers and make a difference in 2017 by becoming a Club 100 member. The Villager FC needs you!
Lastly, again a reminder of the AGM that will be held in the clubhouse on Thursday 27 October 2016 at 18:00. The Annual General Meeting of a club is not only important to report back on the past season, but also to consolidate for the coming season (and beyond). So come down to the club and show your support (it is one evening in the year) as it will also be an opportunity to meet and socialise for an hour or two with other Villager members. Looking forward to seeing you on the 27th!
