Club News

Well, the big league match is just one days away and the coaches and players are eagerly awaiting Saturday’s clash against Union-Milnerton. It is a key league fixture for both clubs. Saturday’s matches are as follows:
1. 1XV vs Uni-Mil 16:00.
2. 2XV vs Uni-Mil 14:10.
3. 3XV vs Uni-Mil 13:05.
4. Under 20A vs Uni-Mil 13:30.
There’s no rugby at Newlands on Saturday, WP has a bye and the Olympic Sevens will be something of the past – so come down to Brookside and give your Villager “family” support to your teams.

Women’s Day this past Tuesday saw a women’s tag rugby tournament staged at Brookside. The event, a first, was well-attended and full marks to Tag Rugby for their initiative in organising a most well-run tournament. The prizegiving was held in the clubhouse and super prizes were handed over to the winners by Sunelle Barnard, a member of the women’s SA Sevens team.

When you are next in the clubhouse you will see that we have built a Committee Room in the north west corner. Thanks must go to John Beamish for his most kind assistance in making this room a reality. A club of the standing and stature of the Villager FC must be able to hold meetings and entertain its guests in a private facility. In the past the administration office had to double up as a committee room and the aftermatch function with our guests took place in a partitioned corner of the clubhouse whilst the supporters were enjoying the hospitality of the pub. Not ideal!

In closing, every Friday from 16:00 to 17:00 is now Happy Hour at the Villager pub. If you are close to the club around that time and feel like an end-of-the-week relaxer, pop in at the pub and allow Martin to start your weekend in a relaxing fashion.

Hope to see you at the club on Saturday.
