MATCH REPORT: 2nd XV vs ST. GEORGES

2nd XV made the win hard work for themselves by playing too loose in the first half.  St Georges where 10-12 up before half time.

The ball carriers made some hards but on many occasions were isolated, giving St Georges the opportunity to disrupt any quick ball to attack from.  When the ball did go wide the backline were too flat and not running straight, giving the opposition a chance to stop any forward momentum.

The forward pack dominated the scrums by pushing back every single scrum.  In the lineout, our own ‘Victor Matfield’ LT made himself a nuisance by stealing St George’s line outs

After half  time break,  there was a big improvement.  The 2nd team Captain Chadwick lead from front with his barging runs.  Soon the boys were stringing the phases and putting the opposition under pressure.  Lups made the tactical changes during the second half, which brought some fresh legs to the park.

The Man of the Match was  George “The Greek” , with his tireless works in the tight and loose play.

The 2nd XV ended the weekend on top of the log and have only 3 games remaining.   Next week we will travel to Hamlets.
