MATCH REPORT: Fourths.com vs Helderberg

On Friday 11/04/2014 The Fourths.com faced Helderberg away kick off at 20h00.

This was a match that should have been a walk in the park for The Fourths. Com after a decimating performance against the same side in March at Brookside, however this was not the case.

With the Fourths.com having a number of absences in our side due to injuries, the performance of March was not to be. We had a few players in positions that had not played with us before leading to an unsettled feeling in the side.

The kick off was at 20h00, with The Fourths kicking off to Helderberg. From the go it was always going to be a physical encounter, with our loosies have a blinder of a game.

Helderberg were first on the board with a penalty.

The ref. Blew inconsistently and hand in the ruck from their side was going unseen/unpenalised, this cause our pack to become very unsettled and we dropped our game to their level. We gave away more penalties which resulted in Helderberg putting more points on the board.

Spanish put a stunning chip over their back line from the half way and Ross church gave chase and scored a stunning try, Foxy converted this to make the score 7-6.

Helderberg then reciprocated and scored a converted try under the poles to make the score 13-7.

We ended the half 13-7 to Helderberg.

The Second half started furiously, with The Fourths probing for a while, when we got the ball we looked dangerous. We hit the ball up in pods and various fruits, Ross broke hard up the left of the field to score in the corner, making the score 13-12, conversion missed.

The game went back and forth from this point; with The Fourths continuing the pressure, we had a couple of injuries with Jusitin destroying his finger in what can only be described as siff.

Helderberg continued with the probing tactical kicks over the backs, eventually this paid off and they scored in the corner to make the score 18-12, they missed the conversion.

Play went on for a 10 or so minutes before the final whistle went, with The Fourths.com going down 18-12.

Return leg at Brookside in the second half of the season.
