A strong wind made for difficult rugby conditions for the Vikings in their narrow victory over a gallant St Georges outfit.
Playing with a strong wind at their backs for the first half, Villager started off patiently. From several phases they were a mere line break away from opening the scoring, only for an errant pass to scupper all hope of that. The loose ball was capitalised on by the home side who ran the length of the field to get the first try of the day.
The boys from Brookside struck back almost immediately with a try from Joel Murphy. Scrum-half, Divan Barkhuyzen with the conversion. Another try followed soon after from the ever present Brandon Henning as he bulldozed over the St Georges line, Barkhuyzen obliged.
Another St Georges score closed out the first half as the lads went into the break 14-12 to the good. An error ridden second half culminated in an individual effort from Aiden Leibrandt converted by replacement Ash Reid.
