A cold and wet Tuesday evening met the boys for their rescheduled SLB u20 fixture vs NNK. Final result: 13 – 3 in Villagers favour.
Torrential rain throughout, made for a disjointed display from both teams. The following quote from the Hollywood blockbuster, Forrest Gump best describes the conditions:
“We’ve been through every kind of rain there is. Little bitty stinging rain…and big old fat rain. Rain that flew in sideways. And sometimes rain even seemed to come straight up from underneath”.
After conceding an early three points as a result of heavy NNK pressure, the Villager pack kicked into gear and began to get the ascendancy. 8th man, Adrian Padua having a storming game. A solid kicking display from Ryan Grant always kept our pack on the front foot. A Bradley Eekhout try out wide, edged the Vikings ahead.
Leading 5-3 at the break, there was everything to play for. An early drop goal from Grant, extended the lead and had it not been for a few questionable calls and the difficult conditions, the lead may well have been considerably more.
Grant dotted down, under the posts, after some neat approach play from the now rampant Villager pack. A 13-3 victory was just desserts for the hard work and dedication shown by this special bunch of young men.
