In an unbelievable gesture of goodwill the UCT Rugby Club has joined in the #ALLinForG campaign by purchasing 100 T-Shirts for their own players to raise funds for the Chris Burger Petro Jackson Players Fund as well as for Villager Player Ryan ‘Gary’ Reaper who suffered a severe spinal injury in a club match recently.
The Shebeen Social Sports Club’s history is deeply intertwined with the UCT rugby club. Founded by a group of students in order to ply their “rugby trade” in the UCT RFC’s internal league, Shebeen Boys spent a very happy 10 years battling not only the opposition, but the wind and rain of the Green Mile too. As such, and although Villager Football Club is our new home where we participate in the open reserve league, we will always appreciate and support UCT where we can.
The Shebeen Social Sports Club committee as well as the Villager FC Committee would like to express their sincere gratitude to UCT RFC for this purchase. All proceeds from the sale of these shirts will go towards The Players Fund so they can continue assisting players seriously injured on the field. Through purchasing these 100 shirts, UCT RFC have clearly stated that they are #ALLinForG!
Ryan has left ICU and is currently in rehab undergoing his 40 day rehab programme where he is making slow but positive progress. He still has a long road ahead of him and his friends and team mates have been outstanding in their continued support of their friend.
To date the #ALLinForG Fundraiser has raised over R40, 000.00 for the Chris Burger Petro Jackson Players Fund and with the 1937 Springbok Tour Event onTuesday 21st of July we hope to further increase this contribution.
