This weekend sees the Dirty White’s travel to take on Kuils River on their home turf for the second round fixture between these two Super League B clubs. For most of the Villager FC team, this will be their first.
The first round fixture at home saw us go down 53 – 15, coached by our second Head Coach of the season Paul Kaplan. Whilst the scoreline looks flattering, poor defence on the part of the Dirty Whites made it far too easy for a fast running Kuilsriver. Unfortunately, Paul Kaplan has withdrawn as Head Coach due to work and family commitments and the trip to Kuilsriver will be under the new leadership of new Head Coach Bruce Fraser (VFC Rugby Chairman) and newly joined Kirsten Marshall. Perhaps a new coaching style and commitment will not have us caught with our pants around our ankles again! Kirsten Marshall has brought a welcomed new urgency and intensity to the side and we look forward to seeing this brought onto the park on Saturday.
The changes to the side from last weeks Goodwood match sees Donny Venter make a welcomed return after an injury period and George Diamantopolus makes his debut replacing the injured Keegan Ackerman. Villager FC will be hoping Donny displays the same form prior to his injury. He replaces Gerard Pedersen, the current “Oupa” of the side and a special mention of thanks must be given to him for his valuable contribution, he will most likely sit on the bench where supporters of Villager will be thrilled to watch vintage wine in motion should he get a run.
Villager FC will be hoping the energy from last nights launch will spur the Dirty Whites towards victory against an opponent you can never take for granted.
