Welcome to Villager Snippets!
This is a quick overview of the current happenings at the club and other noteworthy events. If you have any news or updates of current or past members that you would like to share with the club’s members please email firstname.lastname@example.org or email@example.com.
John Gainsford Update:
Thank you so much for the interest you’ve shown in John and his health. Dr Franklin, the physician, has said that he can come home on Wednesday to recuperate. I know he feels quite strong as he lies in hospital, and I’m hoping he will feel equally strong back home…especially without all the nursing staff to care for him. He has two more IV antibiotics before the infection will hopefully be cleared. May he soon be feeling on top of the world. Thanks again and fond love.
Varsity Sports Rugby 7’s:
Villager hosts the Varsity 7’s Rugby, this weekend from the 25th to 27th of April and will be broadcast live on Supersport channel 210.
Brookside has been transformed with beer gardens, live DJ’s and various food stalls, and of course features the very skilled 7s players from the 10 South African universities on show.
This year’s tournament features the University of the Free State (Kovsies), University of Stellenbosch (Maties), NMMU, Pukke, Tuks, UCT, University of Fort Hare, University of Johannesburg, University of the Western Cape and Walter Sisulu University. Maties have won the tournament twice.
Tickets per day cost between R10 through the App, R15 General Admission and R20 at the Gate.
**Side note: The Road leading to the Clubhouse will be closed on Friday and for the rest of the weekend.
1876 Match Day Lunch:
The first 1876 Club Match Day luncheon will be held on the 02 May for the home game against Tygerberg. All members are invited to attend the lunch and begin what will hopefully become a tradition at Brookside.
