This coming Saturday 9 September 2017 the Villager 1XV will be playing against Hamlets at Brookside in the semi final of the President’s Cup. Kick off is at 15h30. The team did the club proud this season by regaining Super League A status and it would be wonderful if there was a good semi final attendance to “push” our players on to the final.
Brookside staged the 49th Villager School Sevens tournament this past Friday. It was again a fun-filled tournament with all the matches been contested in a great sevens’ spirit. There were some special players showing off their talents and the tournament hopefully marked the beginning of their journey into sevens rugby after school. The results were as follows:
Old Boys winners – SACS Old Boys.
Plate Competition winners – SACS.
Villager Sevens Champions – Bishops.
A big thank you to Peter Simmonds and Bobby Blows (tournament organisers), Sportsmans Warehouse and all the other sponsors, referees, participating schools, adidas for the prizes for the winning team members, and all who were involved on the day. Your contributions are indeed appreciated.
The Annual Golf Day held at Rondebosch Golf Club this past Thursday was a resounding success. Thank you to all those who gave of their time to participate. Their were wonderful prizes awarded at the end-of-day proceedings and our thanks go to Kim and Paula for putting the entire event together.
The final Quiz Evening will take place in the clubhouse this Thursday at 20h30. Come down and test your general and sports knowledge and hopefully win the prizes on offer. There is a great deal of fun to be had – so get a team together, come show off your knowledge and at the same time enjoy the Brookside hospitality.
Well, this Saturday will be a true proof of just how far the Springboks have progressed since the disappointments of last season. Australia will not be easy as was witnessed in their competitiveness in their last test match against the All Blacks. The Springboks will have to bring their A-game to Perth if they are to be victorious. The clubhouse will be open from 11h30 this coming Saturday should you wish to come down to Brookside to cheer the Bokke on.
All of the best for the week and see you at Brookside to cheer our 1XV on this coming Saturday at 15h30.
