Villager FC

Villager Voice 2017 – 016

Dear Villager

Another wonderful Saturday at Brookside this past Saturday!! A great crowd and a Clubhouse filled with exciting aftermatch energy demonstrated that Villagers is certainly alive and well. Congratulations to all our teams who were victorious against Franschhoek on Saturday. The results were as follows:

1XV won 33 – 28.

2XV won 41 – 39.

3XV won 34 – 17.

U20A won 19 – 12.

There were a number of players in all the teams who put up their hands and played so well. The on-field effort by the players in all the teams is quite special and there is much pride in playing for Villagers. However, the Saggy Stone Player-of-the-Day Awards were as follows:

1XV Marx Makanza (sponsored by At Pace).

2XV Nik Vetsos.

3XV Toufiq Mallie.

U20A Evan Viisser.

This Saturday 20 May 2017 will be the last league matches for all our teams before the June break. We will be playing against Paarl at Brookside – another tough fixture. It is special to see the number of past players again popping down to Brookside to watch our teams play and we hope to see more and more of you as the season progresses. As this is our last match before the June break, let us all make a special effort and make it a day to remember with a bumper crowd supporting our “men in white”!!! Let’s make Brookside a special place this coming Saturday. The times for the matches are as follows:

1XV A Field 16h00.

2XV A Field 14h40.

3XV A Field 13h30.

U20A B Field 13h25.

A remarkable achievement!! In an unforgettable World Rugby Sevens season, the Blitsbokke are the best Sevens team on the planet and world champions. What makes their season even more special is that in the last few tournaments they have played without stars such as Seabelo Senatla, Justin Geduld, Kyle Brown, Kwagga Smith. A very proud South African rugby achievement and a special Villager congratulations goes to the coaches, team management and players!

On a less cheery, but serious note, there are still a number of members         who have not yet paid their annual Villager non-player subscriptions. Not only is it a very important source of income for the club, but we as a club would like to quietly and proudly boast of the incredible support we receive from our non-playing members – and it is only R500 for the season.

That’s it then for this Monday newsletter. Enjoy the week and we hope to see you at Brookside on Saturday – your attendance will make it a special day!!!

Kind regards.

VFC Rugby Administration.
