Villager Voice 2017 – 022

Dear Villager

The June break is now over and our 1XV face a true test of their character going into the second round with only 2 home matches. As the only         unbeaten team in the league, the opposition will be going all out to put an end to that statistic. We have the team to go all the way, but it’s now about desire, hunger, focus and whether the players want to leave a legacy. It is accepted that for any rugby player who has the privilege of representing the Villager FC, the final objective of winning and doing your very best is, in fact, non-negotiable!

This Saturday 1 July 2017 the club will be playing away against Kraaifontein. Following the matches, the players and partners will be returning to the Clubhouse to enjoy a Blush Party which will start at 19h30. The party is open to all and there will be a DJ, a best-dressed prize (and other prizes), pink gin from Saggy Stone and fun, fun, fun!!!! Entry fee is R10-00 so come down to Brookside and join in the Villager spirit with the players and non-playing members, and bring your friends along.

Brookside will be hosting the following provincial fixtures in July and August:

Date Match
Saturday 22 July  WP U19 vs OFS U19

(early curtain raiser to home fixtures against Helderberg)

Saturday 5 August WP Women vs Border Women

WP U19 vs Leopards U19

Friday 18 August  WP U19 vs Sharks  U19

(Times still to be confirmed).

Congratulations go to the Boks on their 3-0 series win against France. It was good to see our team winning again and there does seem to be a re-newed energy and spirit amongst the players. But there are sterner tests still awaiting the team in the Rugby Championship, two of them in the form of the mighty All Blacks. And how good were the men in black against the British and Irish Lions – the intensity, skill, pace and will-to-win were lessons for any sportsperson – and with no multi-coloured boots!!

We now go back to Villager rugby, WP rugby and Stormers rugby. Let’s hold thumbs and wish for success for our teams in the coming weeks. Also, let’s hope that there will soon be rain, rain and more rain. Have a great week!!

Kind regards.

VFC Rugby Administration.
