Villager Voice 2018 – 027

Dear Villager

The Villager FC resumes its league campaign at Brookside this coming Saturday 21 July 2018 against a resurgent SK-Walmers who this past weekend beat Hamiltons at the Green Point Track. It will be a big challenge for our club against an established Super League A club and this week will demand much focus and commitment from the Villager players. Playing sport at a competitive level is all about self-belief and in a team context about brotherhood. These have been characteristics of past Villager teams who often as underdogs upset the form book and ended victorious. In sport nothing is impossible if you believe!!

This coming Saturday’s fixtures at Brookside are as follows :

A Field 1XV 16h00.

A Field 2XV 14h40.

A Field U20A 13h20.

What a weekend of top sport!! Anderson, Isner, Nadal, Djokovic, Kerber, Williams, France, Croatia, WP Craven Week. It’s the stuff of sporting legends of elation and heartache, winners and losers, laughter and tears and simply what makes sport great. Mention must be made of Kevin Anderson who for sheer fighting spirit and for his humility in both victory and defeat is an example to us all. He has made South Africa most proud for his attitude both on and off the tennis court and we as Villagers salute a true sportsman.

Brookside will see the installation on the A Field of an electronic scoreboard during this week which will make life much easier during a match (especially when it is raining). Thanks must go to Warwick and the Shout Group for making this possible as we continue to upgrade Brookside as a rugby facility that you can be proud of.

The Saggy Stone Villager clubhouse is working very well and both the restaurant and bar provide first class food an drink. If you have not already done so, pop down to Brookside for a meal and/or drink and enjoy the Villager hospitality – after all the necessary upgrade was done for your benefit. And don’t forget that club members receive a 10% discount at both the restaurant and bar with the production of your 2018 membership card.

lease don’t forget and diarise this coming Saturday for a visit to Brookside to support the men in white. The players need your support as playing at home is an advantage when your home support is urging and cheering you on. The club needs to be one both on and off the field. See you on Saturday!

Kind regards.
