This week is Sevens rugby at Brookside!!!!!
The Old Boys from Rondebosch Boys, SACS, Wynberg Boys and Bishops get the ball rolling on Thursday 30 August at 18h30. The top 2 teams after the round robin matches will go through to play the final on Friday as curtain raiser to the Schools Sevens Final. Thursday is a perfect opportunity for Old Boys from the 4 schools to again catch up, to have fun and reminisce about the good old school days.
Then on Friday 31 August starting at 14h00 is the annual Villager Schools Sevens. It will be a grand occasion as it celebrates the 50th tournament at Brookside – a record of which the Villagers FC is extremely proud!! Way back in 1969 Dave Stewart recognised Sevens Rugby as a future competitive sport on the big stage and introduced the Villager Schools Sevens. And how right he was about Sevens Rugby as today there is the annual international Sevens Championship circuit and Sevens Rugby is also played at the Commonwealth Games and the Olympic Games.
So, Villagers is the place this week for Sevens Rugby. Bring friends and family along as the club would like to welcome a bumper crowd. The Saggy Stone Villager Bar and Grill in the clubhouse will provide top food and drinks, parking will be available at Claremont Primary School, there is a kiddies play area and all in all simply come along and have fun!! See you at Brookside!!
